Pahang has the highest infectivity rate in the country of Rt 1.27

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry reported 107 deaths linked to Covid-19 today. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in his daily Covid-19 health update said more than half of the deaths were reported in the Klang Valley.

"Selangor had the most number of deaths at 51 followed by Kuala Lumpur with 21 deaths. "Eleven deaths were reported in Negeri Sembilan. In Johor, there were six. Kedah and Pahang had five deaths each, and four in Melaka. "Sabah, Sarawak, Perak and Labuan had one death each," he said in a statement today. He said 89 of these deaths involved people with comorbidities. A total of 69 deaths involved people aged 60 and above, 36 deaths aged between 30 and 59, while two below age 30. "Brought in dead cases today totalled 14," he added.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said the Covid-19 infectivity or R-naught (Rt) stands at 1.07 as of yesterday (July 2). He said the highest R-naught (Rt) recorded in Malaysia was 3.5 and that figure was recorded when the movement controls had first began in March 18 last year.

Currently, Pahang has the highest infectivity rate in the country of Rt 1.27. "Other states with an Rt of above 1.0 are Putrajaya (1.13), Selangor (1.07), Penang (1.07), Melaka (1.07), Kuala Lumpur (1.03), Kedah (1.03), and Perak (1.00)," he said.
